About Us:

Dolittle’s was founded on the basis of Sandy’s lifetime experience of bringing up her own children and caring for the many young children she has encountered during many years of child-minding and also through the love for her pets.

Sandy’s daughter popped in to see her one day after a very stressful week working for a big bank and, as she always did, immediately asked to cuddle all of the very excited dogs (they love her as much as she adores them) - Macy, Nell, Hugo and our new addition George! Within minutes she was lying peacefully on the sofa, totally relaxed and said just how much better she felt after the stresses of the day.

Sandy’s son - who has Special Needs, mild Tourette’s Syndrome and Auditory Progression - has brought great challenges to her life. However, she has found that his need for harmony with his own anxieties disappears almost completely when he has contact with his furry friend Macy. When his dark days are too much to bear he has always been found curled up with his “best friend” in a relaxed state, feeling so much better about life

It’s also been discovered that the same feelings of peace and relaxation and happiness have been felt by other members of her family, including her eldest son who, despite being asthmatic, gets his release from anxiety by falling asleep with all the family animals on top of him! And when he plays his guitar in private at home the audience is his devoted clan of dogs and cats, all resting and relaxing and content with his music!

All the many children who have been cared for by Sandy have always enjoyed the company of Sandy’s pets with great affection and enthusiasm and her observations over many years have cemented her knowledge and belief that Animal Assisted Healing should be regularly available for schools and special needs centres and many other people who could benefit in many areas such as :

  • rehabilitation centres
  • terminally ill
  • residential homes
  • pre-school facilities and nurseries
  • bereavement counselling
